Windy Wedding!

On Saturday 6th June 2026 on a very windy day in Salcombe, a reduced sized Shine Steel Band played for Drs Sarah Bell and Julian's wedding reception held at the beautiful venue at Cliff House, Salcombe which overlooks the Salcombe Esturary towards East Portlemouth Beach and out to sea.
We were delighted when Sarah asked us to play for her wedding after seeing us perform at Blackpool Sand during the summer last year in 2025.
The day was forecasted with a Met Office Yellow Warning of strong, near to Gale Force winds coming from the South West, so a very sensible decision was made for us to set up inside the Ballroom at Cliff House.
Once the guests started to arrive, windswept and looking forward to their first Rum Cocktail, (the theme of the day was very much 'Beach Party' ) we began playing through our fun repertoire, whilst of course leaving out certain numbers such as, 'You Don't Love Me No, No, No' by Dawn Penn and Black Sabbath's, 'Paranoid', for obvious reasons!
By the time we'd reached the end of our set, many of the children and their mums and dads were dancing away in front of us, which was great. A firm favourite for them was the latest addition to our repertoire, Donna Summer's 'Hot Stuff' which went down very well indeed. In fact, 'the louder the better' was the order of the day.
Once we had collected our cars from afar (there's no parking at Cliff House) and loaded up in quick time, it was back on the road, back to base and of course, a compulsory pint or two to finish off a throughly enjoyable day and to bring us back to earth.
Well done the wedding reception band and of course, congratulations to Sarah and Jules, thank you for inviting us to play for your Big Day and we wish you both the very best for your future together xxx
