Meet the Team

I've lived in Dartmouth since 1991 and apparently, I'm very nearly a local! Drafted to the Royal Marines Band at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC) I fell in love with the place so decided to stay. I'm an experienced musician and play first trumpet in the BRNC Concert Band. I have taught music as a visiting peripatetic music educator at local schools and together with Rose, we recently recreated the Steel Band at Dartmouth Academy. I bring a wealth of experience with me from playing professionally aboard the Royal Yacht Britannia, to performing in and leading amateur bands and small ensembles for Britannia Royal Naval College.  I am looking forward to sharing the joy of learning to play and perform in Shine Steel Band. 

I arrived at Dartington College of Arts in 1984 and decided there was no better place to be than in the South Hams. As both a teacher and performer I have performed as a soloist, orchestral and band musician and led many music ensembles, from concert hall to night club and everything in between. Playing steel pans is high up on my list of favourite fun musical activities and I look forward to introducing the Shine reggae experience to you all!
