"I Don't Like Cricket - I Love It!"

What fun we had on Sunday afternoon at the Brixham Cricket Club when we performed an evening of Reggae and Ska music in support of the RNLI and the Torbay Lifeboat.

Thank you to Nige and Pete and the staff at the Cricket Pavilion for their help throughout the event. Thank you also to the Hog Roast team for a wonderfully timed Pork Bap complete with stuffing and apple sauce!

Despite a rather rainy start, we soon got going with some Caribbean sounds to warm up and dry out a dampened, yet determined audience. With the England Women's Football Team playing the Euro Final on the big TV in the corner, we had a couple of challenges to overcome which I think we managed with panache and style. In fact, we finished our set just in time to watch the penalty shoot out with England being crowned the champions for the second time, go the England Womens Football Team!

In honour of Ozzy Osbourne of Black Sabbath who passed a week or so earlier, we played through the latest addition to our repertoire, Paranoid, which went down so well with everyone.

By the time we reached the finale we were repeating some songs by request which had everyone up dancing and singing, well done to you all. It was so lovely to meet someone from Barbados and her friend and her daughter who now live in Brixham, and to meet a lovely Brixham couple who are very knowledgable Reggae connoisseurs. Good job we did all those rehearsals!

It was amazing to see all the loud Hawaain shirts and assorted Carribean accessories from hats to T-shirts and much more.

Well done to everyone for coming along and supporting both the RNLI and of course, Shine Steel Band. We love you all and hope to see you again next year!
